Hi all!This is a gorgeous set of fossil Annularia (an extinct horsetail plant) leavesfrom the Pennsylvanian of the infamous Mazon Creek outcrop of Illinois! It has terrific preservation on both halves on the ironstone concretion! The leaves measure 2.16 and 1.02 inches (55 and 26 mm)acrossrespectively!A beautiful addition to any fossil collection, neither half has been repaired or restored in any way!
Mazon Creek is a fossil site located in Illinois that dates to about 300 million years ago! It is world renowned for fossils of things that usually decompose quickly, like fern fronds, worms, jellyfish, and other soft tissue preserved in ironstone concretions in exquisite detail!
