It is the most prestigious andbest-known French spa town, the model spa resort. Situated on a plain on thebanks of the Allier River, its urban planning combines Parisian urbanprinciples with a thermal promenade inside the city. Napoleon III encouragedthe construction of a new spa town with parks and boulevards, a cosmopolitan"Little Paris" with large spa buildings, refreshment bars connectedby a large covered promenade, a casino and a theater, hotels and villas. Vichy'ssuccess resumed after the difficult times of the Second World War, and thebottled water of the "Queen of Spa Towns" continued to be exported inlarge quantities. It also formed the basis of the cosmetic and skin careproducts of the Vichy Laboratories brand, a leading brand in Europeanpharmacies. The booklet is written in French.
