The statue is real cast bronze, not a resin, plaster or plastic mixture and would make a wonderful bookend.

Camille Claudel was ( 1864 - 1943 ) was a French Sculptor and Graphic Artist.

Fascinated with stone and soil as a child, as a young woman she studie at the Acadamie Colarossi with sculptor Afred Boucher. At the time, the Ecole des Beaux Art barred women from enrolling to study. In 1882, Claudel rented a workshop with other young women, mostly English including Jessie Lispcomb. In 1883, she met Auguste Rodin, who taught sculpture to Claudel and her friends. In 1884 she starting working in Rodin\'s working and Claudel become a source of inspiration, his model , his confident and lover. In 1951, Paul Claudel organized an exhibition a tthe Musee Rodin, which continues to display over 80 of her sculptures.
