This is a very nice, distinct example of a Collenia stromatolite from the Precambrian of Wisconsin. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, or ''cyanobacteria''. This cool stromatolite specimen is believed to be 2.2BILLION years old! This very collectible slab has been highly polished on one side for optimal display. The unique greenish-and-white banded coloration of this stromatolite makes for a striking specimen. This is a beautiful example of an extremely old piece of the Earth's history.
