Yes, this is a first-generation casting off the original Dracula ring worn by Bela Lugosi and John Carradine!WHAT??? But...HOW???WAY BACK WHEN... My company, QMx, had the Universal Monsters license and I wanted to sell a replica of this ring.I found out that none other than Forrest Ackerman owned the original and he was actually not very far from where we were at the time in LA.
So, I made arrangements to meet him at his home, and he enthusiastically lent us the ring. He literally told me..."Just hold onto it", but and I told him... NO WAY.
I knew the decades-long history of people stealing original props and costumes from Forry, so I told him and his assistant Joe Moe that we would pull an epoxy master over that weekend and it would be BACK in their hands in THREE DAYS>
And it was. I didn't want to be ANY part of that long tradition of his collection disappearing into the hands of scammers and liars.
In return, we later sent him a batch of our completed replicas, as agreed, and Joe let me know that they LOVED them. Cool.I think this was one of the last projects that "Uncle Forry" participated in. He passed away not long after that. RIP.So I have had this epoxy master all of these years. It was used as the pattern for the QMx ring and the Factory Entertainment ring as well.
I have decided to sell a FEW castings. These are done in very-high-strength Smooth-On resin. The $145/gallon stuff.
It is very stable, has almost no shrinkage and you could chuck this thing across the room with no damage. (But don't do that.)
Note that the ring center area is filled in so that the pattern could be cast. If you want to make this wearable, you would need to grind out the center, but be aware that will make it fragile! I would leave it AS-IS and enjoy it as part of American horror film history. Thusly, this sale is for ONE casting. It will be tinted dark-gray and the color may vary a bit.It will also come with a certificate of authenticity.
NO RETURNS> SOLD AS-IS.
But WHY would you want to return it? That would be weird.
