This letter appears to be one sister consoling another on her loss during the 1918 influenza pandemic. The letter goes on to describe how the writers family had taken the first three of four injections of the influenza vaccine in the arm. They had yet to become ill even though the writer described the illness to be widespread in their area. The letter appears to have been sent from someone named Jane in Memphis (Buntyn), Tennessee to Phil & Clara King in Florence, Alabama.Although the scans appear white in color the paper is actually yellowed as it appears in the photographs.
