Colorado: 1870-2000 leather hardcover book with gold embossed lettering in excellent vintage condition. This is the first edition from 1999 (a serving book was released in 2005). The cover has a few dents, creasing on the corners as shown. Leather has faded slightly as well. Pages are immaculate. Photos are fabulous. Quite a hefty read weighing almost 7 lbs. Beautiful book for any collector or makes an even better gift!

Colorado: 1870-2000 (commonly called “Colorado: Then and Now”) became the bestselling Colorado travel book of all time during the 1st decade of the 21st century. The Colorado Historical Society developed an educational program that includes lectures, a traveling exhibit, newspaper serialization, and television series -- based on this book -- to encourage people to appreciate and reflect on nature, history, and photography as we move into the future.

The images of early west photographer William Henry Jackson captured a Colorado landscape both pristine and already dramatically affected by the onslaught on western civilization. Standing exactly where Jackson stood and pointing his own camera in precisely the same direction, John Fielder has rephotographed Jackson's Colorado images to capture the often-startling change that has occurred over that century.
