The Polaris Dawn mission was a private crewed spaceflight operated by SpaceX on behalf of Shift4 CEO Jared Isaacman, the first of three planned missions in the Polaris program. Launched on September 10, 2024, the mission sent a four-person crew to low-Earth orbit (LEO) and marked several milestones:

First Commercial Spacewalk: The crew performed the world’s first commercial spacewalk, conducted by Isaacman and Sarah Gillis, a SpaceX engineer and mission specialist.

Highest Orbit: The Dragon spacecraft, named Resilience, reached a peak altitude of 1,408.1 kilometers (870 miles) above Earth, the highest ever flown by a Dragon mission and higher than any human has flown since the Apollo program in 1972.
