Delve into the rich heritage of American folk art with this Antique 19th 19th-century framed Pennsylvania Dutch Cross-Stitch Sampler. It's a genuine piece that embodies meticulous craftsmanship, featuring a vibrant multicolor palette that brings its intricate designs to life. The sampler is beautifully preserved, encased in a period-appropriate frame that complements its historical value. The piece was framed in Philadelphia, and that company was in business from the 1840s for over 100 years. The top has an alphabet that is missing the letter "Z"; this cross-stitch sampler shows a peacock, various flowers that are common in PA Dutch folk art, a large farmhouse, a religious poem, and the names of all the children in the household at the bottom. This is a nice part of history, and I appreciate your interest in the piece.
Condition:This framed sampler has some light wear to the wood frame, mostly to the top of the frame, and I have highlighted this in my images. There is a water stain on the sampler at the top, going from close to the middle 9" towards the right, and it tapers down about 6" from the top. This is a light watermark and should be seen clearly in my images. There is a small amount of dust in front of the Pennsylvania farmhouse in the center that I did not take apart to clean out. The piece has darkened over time, which is normal for a piece of this age. The paper on the back of the frame is coming away from the age, which can also be seen in my images. Overall, this is a nice piece, and having survived this long makes it even more special.Dimensions - 18" x 18"
