A vintage original booklet of tickets \"For the Fight Against Thought Control\" published by \"The Michigan Committee for the Protection of Foreign Born\".
These tickets were sold as a raffle in the early-Sixties to raise funds for the support of 35 people being deported from Michigan under circumstances unknown to me. The event is unnamed but the plea is impassioned (see pix).
Must have been published before 1963 because of the cool early Telephone EXchange number listed : WOodward 1-6278, named after the main North/South spur road leading from the center of Detroit.The book is evenly split between blue $1 tickets & yellow .50 cent tickets, all bearing an illustration of Lady Liberty. None of the tickets have been removed - This booklet is unused !Condition is VG - :
This is a complete book of tickets. The interior pages are in great condition, without water damage or discoloration. There are no dog-eared pages or rips. There is not a single ticket missing.The cardboard covers have some soiling and staining. Covers also have some mild roughing of the edges. The back cover has a missing corner. The staple-binding is tight but the staples are rusted.
