1949 Marilyn Monroe Original Photo by Tom Kelley Red Velvet Sitting Stamped Rare For Sale
1949 Marilyn Monroe Original Photo by Tom Kelley Red Velvet Sitting Stamped Rare:
Selling my extremely rare original Marilyn Monroe photograph taken by Tom Kelley in 1949. Color gelatin silver. This is a famous photo but a very rare pose from the “Red Velvet” sitting. Size 8x10. Stunningly gorgeous. I’m not entirely sure when it was produced so I’m offering free shipping and free returns in the US. But it’s definitely a darkroom photograph, it’s not a cheap inkjet or laser print. Stamped by Kim Goodwin on back:
This is from, if not the best, then one of the very best Marilyn Monroe photo collectors of all time, Kim Goodwin. Kim Goodwin’s stamp is on back. Kim was a man of many talents, he loved and had a deep appreciation for Marilyn, he actually worked for photographer, George Barris, and chose to be paid in photographs and negatives. He was extremely talented, among many talents, he was a photographic preservationist, there are many books that credit him for the use of his photos. He was a highly skilled Marilyn doll designer, some would argue perhaps the best because his dolls looked so life like and captured Marilyn’s beauty in a way no other designer could and they had a gracefulness to them that was unparalleled, and as mentioned above contributed to many books on her. He was also a sought after, highly regarded, expert stylist/artist to the stars.
Please disregard any shapes or shadows they are from my camera, the photo is in excellent condition.
Tom Kelley Sr.
He is best known for his iconic 1949 nude photographs of Marilyn Monroe, which were distributed widely as calendar art—one of which was featured in the inaugural issue of Playboy magazine in 1953. He paid Marilyn Monroe only $50 dollars for the shoot.”
