Vintage Medical Illustration Poster of Human Muscles Anatomy Antique Doctor Science Chart

This listing is for an antique or vintage old medical human poster or chart from the Anatomical Chart Co., Chicago Illinois Published in 1947, 1981, 1986. ANATOMICAL CHART CO.

It is very nice with black metal hanging strips on the top and bottom of the poster. It measures 20" by 26". It has slightly yellowed and aged paper with slight wear. The most noticeable thing is that there will be either one or two tiny thumbtack holes on the bottom because there is no metal ring on the bottom like there is on the top. So the only way to hang it up without curling is to tack it down on the bottom. It has fantastic, vivid and highly artistic illustrations making this really cool and authentic scientific décor for a doctor, doctor's office or antique medical collector.

This medical poster is really nice and features a lot cool detailed illustrations like RIGHT HALF

OF DIAPHRAGM, MUSCLES OF POSTERIOR ABDOMINAL WALL, MUSCLES OF RIGHT FOOT

(plantar aspect), TEASED MUSCLE FIBERS 500X, MUSCLE FASCICULUS 45X, and MUSCLES OF RIGHT HAND

(palmar aspect).

I took several photos to show the detailed illustrations on this poster.

I also took photos using a shortwave UV light because (just by accident) I discovered that these old medical posters lit up under UV in a certain way that was amazing!

These illustrations are unlike anything I've seen before! The best way to describe it, is they seem 3-d and layered and dimensional under the UV lighting. It looks like you can almost see how they colored these posters with layers of every individual color of paint and you can see how each color is on top of one another.

I am not sure if the photos show quite how striking and cool they look in person, but I tried my best to capture what I was seeing.

I took a lot of detailed and close up images to document all these cool features.

These vintage beautifully illustrated medical posters remind of the Cavallini series of posters and prints that are a modern company but are great at finding old and gorgeous antique illustrations of various science subjects like anatomy, entomology, biology, botany and more and reprinting and reproducing the images onto other items like wrapping paper, calendars, and even puzzles. But please note this is NOT that. This is super similar in style to those, but this is an actual genuine and authentic old and antique vintage medical poster not a brand new reproduction like those.

These were a really awesome score found at an estate sale of a retired surgeon's home. And this poster came in a large and interesting lot that had many other posters, (all the same series and all with the metal borders and hanging strips) as well as other antique medical gems and vintage finds, including TONS of different medical models, like - spines, knees, kidneys, blood vessels, hands, bones, shoulders, collarbone, a scapulae. And there was also included a LOT of stethoscopes with an entire stethoscope repair kit and many antique medical surgical tools like hemostats, various clamps, tweezers, forceps, medical scissors, trauma shears, and lots of other stainless steel medical tools for surgery and most were marked 'made in Germany' with one marked 'made in Pakistan'.

Since I got this at an estate sale, I'd like to say that the nature of estate sales are such that you often never know the source of the items that you are buying, you have to do a lot of guessing as to the age. So I am not sure how old this is or what exactly it is worth but I do know that it is really cool and in really good condition.
