1945 Vintage Photo by ASSOCIATED PRESS the old and the young, the sick and the well, Savannah, Georgia African Americans by the thousands wait in line during the current syphilis-tuberculosis survey in Chatham County, of which Savannah is the seat. There are approximately 135,000 persons in the county and the aim is to test every one of them within a 45-day period. This picture was taken in the Yamacraw Village Examination Center.
