1929 E. Ingraham \"Wings Over Pole-The Explorer\" large beautiful pocket watch issued for Admiral Richard Byrds famous and historic South Pole flight. The face measures 1-1/2\" in diameter with nice image of Byrd\'s aircraft at at the top of the dial. The bezel has intricate engraved design on the entire surface with a penguin on the left and right sides plus small image of the airplane at top and bottom. The nicely chromed case has anengraved depiction of the airplane flying over the South Pole with lettering at top \"Wings Over the Pole-The explorer\".The black leather strap is a replacement. At the top of the strap is the original small working compass located within a metal embossed image of two penguins plus raised lettering at the bottom \"Wings Over the Pole\". The watch is working but only intermittently, usually when tapped on. It probably needs a cleaning or adjustment for a more accurate timekeeping result. Overall about excellent condition and very tough to find with the compass assembly. See photos above. Postage according to state in USA. Foreign according to country.
