This very large vintage spirit mask from the lower sepik river is a height of 60 inches x width of 30 inches x 13 inches deep. The mask is carved from a single piece of wood in exquisite detail. A crocodile tongue protrudes from the mouth of the artwork. Cowry shells, and venomous cone shells are imbedded in beautiful clay adornments and some wisps of cassowary bird feathers adorn the hairline and eyelashes. The paint is natural clay only. I obtained this piece while on an expedition in New Guinea in 1993.* This item is offered for local pickup only
