🔥 Fine Southwest Native American Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting, Frideaux:
$2750.00

This is an exceptional and beautifulFine Southwest Native American Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting on wood, by Arkansas - Oklahoma based painter and ceramicist, Richard Frideaux (b. 1948.) Frideaux is best known for his collaboration with his wife, Kay Hays Bynum (1946 - 2009), on their painted studio pottery line produced under the name \"Design Complex.\" While Kay Hayes Bynum often takes most of the credit, her husband Frideaux is actually a very talented painter and artisan in his own right. This artwork depicts a Fauvist Southwestern landscape scene, with tall red rocks rising from the grassy plains. At the top of the large neolith, a Native American man is perched, signaling to another man down below. The rocks nearby are etched with Native American petroglyphs, and in the center of the image, a horse is lapping up water from a small puddle. The figures depicted are likely the Anasazi, an ancient Native American culture that are the ancestors of various tribes across the Southwestern United States. Signed and titled: \"Richard Frideaux...American Stonehenge\" in the lower left corner. Additionally, this work is signed and annotated on the verso of the frame. Approximately 32 x 44 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 24 x 36 inches. This piece likely dates to the 1970\'s. Good condition for age, with moderate scuffing, edge wear, and gilding loss to the ornate gilded frame. Additionally, the frame appears to be slightly warped and has a slight bend in it (please see photos.) Acquired in Western Texas, United States.
