I agree with you. I remember standing in the school hallway, facing metal lockers, and being told that this was to protect me from thermonuclear attack.

Even in elementary school I wasn't that profoundly stupid.

But I'm not so sure that the future holds better rather than worse given that America is putting itself in danger to satisfy a few large egos.
