I've done something very similar.
I've set up a permeable membrane within a framework. This membrane is placed against the West wall and another on the ceiling of my apartment. As the membrane vibrates / glissandes, the framework transfers the vibrations to a unit that converts them into electricity. That energy is so great that I have enough electricity for my needs every month plus enough left over to watch my DVD collections of South Park. The powerful vibrations are caused by my naturally noisy freaking neighbors to the left of me and directly overhead!
