Buncha crap. The requirements for life are liquid water between -40 and 120 C and an accessible redox couple. Everything else is apparently negotiable. You can grow bacteria on an electrode to provide a half-cell of the couple.
Mystics are baffled by the obvious yet possess a complete understanding of the nonexistent.
