Re: Hybrid cars may not deliver results as promised (Cure for Gravity)

This board has seen immense volumes of drivel posted by fools with god or Gaia jammed up their butts. To abandon science in favor of personal or mass (e.g., social activism, Enviro-whinerism) hallucination is to inherit the wind. How can they possibly complain when their wishes are granted?

"the Civic Hybrid averaged 26 mpg in the city." (from the "WIRED" article)

My 1969 VW Golf averages better than 26 mpg. It has manual windows, brakes, and steering; no air conditioning. It is a car not an amusement park.

NOBODY wants better mileage. Government exacts political control and gains revenue through maximum fuel prices. Petroleum companies want maximum buck for the bang. The whole stinking manure wagon of Liberal social activism luxuriates in maximizing problems not solving them. The consumer wants monstrous steel behemouths that award Detroit huge profit margins.

Uncle Al stands shocked and amazed that a car propelled by a 400 amp electrical system doesn't come with a coffee maker. My gasoline per mile costs less than half as much as an SUV's. My car's annual registration and insurance are ridiculously cheap. That's what science does for you. Well, not you, me.

BTW, hybrid car batteries self-discharge. If you do not drive it regularly your mileage drops. The battery pack will crap out in about 5 years either way. Pay them now and pay them later. It could be done properly, but why?
