For those who remember the spirited message thread that, unfortunately, got lost during the receent change-over, here is still more reason why Kerry, IF he really wants to win, should stop yapping about what a war hero he was (or the atrocities he committed, depending on what audience he has at any given moment); stop dredging up crack-brained "moveon.org" conspiracy theories about Bush; stop attacking Bush on issues that already make him popular; and START hitting him on issues with SUBSTANCE that people really give a damn about.

An awful lot of swing voters aren't quite sure whether this war will turn out to be a good idea or not (and since Kerry thinks we should stay - or worse - turn it over to the UN, that's a moot point), but most people agree on curing diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, birth defects (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3495605.stm), and more. When Republican Darling Nancy Reagan and Hollywood liberals can come to a televised agreement on stem cell research - THAT'S A WATERSHED EVENT!

Nancy Reagan plea on stem cells

Kerry is NOT the decisive, "hell-bent-for-leather" hero he was over 30 years ago and that's obvious. He is older and slower and needs to show that he has become wiser during that time.

If Kerry doesn't jump on this issue and use this wedge against Bush, then Bush will have a "change of heart" and change his mind regarding stem cell research. And Kerry will still be blithering about how he "cast the deciding vote"
(which is B.S. and Bill Clinton said so: http://www.factcheck.org/article.aspx?docID=179) that created over 20 million jobs.

If Kerry loses, it will not be because of an uninformed citizenry, The Media, or Ralph Nader. It will be because 30+ years of being a political wonk has made Kerry lazy and a perfect politician.
