The pitiful thing is that internal organs were taken from the 'non-clinically dead'. For monetry gain that was paid by the living to stay alive. The deceased relatives would never know about it, once the body is in its coffin.
When I was working in Canada, anyone who desired could pick up an 'Organ Donor Card' (displayed in most pharmacists)
Should you die in a road accident, your organs would be legally removed to save others. Nice gesture?
Unfortunately in the rush to transport ice cooled organs to various needy patients.......they were not checked for aids. You can guess the results.
Also Canada became short of donor organs for some years after the adverse publicity.
