I can't speak for any peoples but myself, but the FAUQ is, those varmints in the water are not human-like at all, but an evolutionary branch that spawned bipedal mud dwellers that started moving toward land, but then thought better of it and hit the water. As things worked out, their limbs didn't hinder them, their digits helped them, so there was never any need for them to all get together and evolutionize themselves some flippers. But they didn't descend from primates so they aren't human-like in the strictest sense of the word. Humanoid is the proper term. Tell your friends!
