Whether it is funnel shaped or not we may well know wihtin our lifetimes. If I were to make a bet, however, it wouldn't be on any specific shape. But rather I'd bet it is finite and it is not flat.
And my reason ... because I think it is fractal. And I keep coming back to infinite variation in a finite space.
