What is the other percent?
Kinda makes me think of a Redneck joke,
'If you are "pretty much" an atheist: you just might be a God believer!'
Not to be rude, but there are an awful lot of people who don't believe in Jesus - yet believe in God.
There are also an awful lot of people who have no Moses in their religion - yet they believe in God.
I don't believe in a God for two reasons:
1. The God of both the Catholic and KJV Bible, on which I was raised, just makes no sense at all. The very idea that a supreme being would have the neediness and temperment of an childish brat is not something I can rationally accept as a "Divine Mystery".
2. The best that those God Believers in my life could explain in regards to religion and faith was a combination of "God hides in our lack of knowledge"
(I.E.: You can't answer my question? God has the answer!)
And threat & cajole (pretty much what happens in here from time to time, view the Kathleen posturing from Winter 2004).My vocal opinion would be different, of course, if I were living in a land where my atheism was punishable by death. But that probably won't happen in the U.S.A., in any legal sense, for another 30 years.
