Re: Stored Energy? (Mike Kremer)

Doesn't the force in magnetism lie in the position of electron orbitals, which represents some form of quantum energy state? When a magnet acts on a susceptible object, I thought it did so by temporarily altering those states to a different quantum energy level, and the induced magnetism/attraction fades as the orbitals return to their prior state. I'm muddling about here, as it has been a long time, but there is energy involved, the transformation of energy of position (Potential Energy) through an energy of motion (Kinetic Energy), and reversing. Some sort of energy must be involved, as a detectable, measurable force is exerted.

Is this a weak or strong interaction?
