Re: Existence of Dark Matter (Kethrie)

WMAP + Sloane Digital Sky Survey

There is no way in any existing theory of gravitation to explain the persistance of spiral galaxies over all visible time given their visible mass distribution. We need better theory.

"Dark matter" is curve fitting. The physical properties necessary are very unsatisfactory - no electromagnetic interactions whatsoever, only gravitation. Dark matter therefore cannot cool after the Big Bang nor can it interact with any detector. The only candidate particle would be the SuperSymmetric neutralino. That's a crappy fit.

As with any curve fitting modality, you can get any goodness of fit you want to interpolation - but that guarantees nothing re extrapolation. It is for that reason that the soft sciences (economics, psychology, meteorology, Enviro-whining) can rigorously explain any logged data but can acurately predict nothing.
