The Sea rised up 600 feet upward.

And we mountain-dwellers get to enjoy beachfront property! My father (a realtor) would probably love that.

I think the problem people have with just accepting it is what havoc it would (possibly) cause to our food chain. If even the coral reefs of the world died off we'd face a massive trickle-down problem.

I don't think we'd have to worry about penguins and polar bears, it's the unforseen difficulties that bother most folks.

I think penguins would enjoy the change. Polar bear populations have been dropping steadily because the big white boogers aren't adapting very well, but penguins are doing fine. :)

I think the fundamental problem with accepting change/catastrophe is evolution might decide we're out of date and it's time for cockroaches to shine.
