Re: Alternatives (Uncle Al)

Thanks for the comments.

We *do* take complaints about inappropriate posts seriously. Bear in mind, however, that this site is run on a part-time basis. That is, we don’t have the resources to monitor the board full-time. However, if you believe a post is inappropriate, email me with the details (post number/url) and we will check it out. Although we might not be able to action things straight away, it will be looked at. This doesn’t mean it will automatically be removed.

We think the range of discussion on this board is brilliant and unavailable anywhere else on the web. We believe this is achieved through having an open board. Consequently we are not keen to remove posts simply because someone doesn’t agree with a particular point of view. However, as I said before, if you believe a post is inappropriate then let me know the details. An open board can be a rough, tough, unforgiving environment, but hey, anything good is worth fighting for.

With regard to the specifics of this instance, what are the offending messages? I’ve looked at a few but can’t reconcile them as inappropriate. Can the offending messages be pointed out please?

Regarding some of the other comments, we have trialed registration-required boards in the past and the general consensus was that they were pretty crappy. We’re happy to revisit this if anyone has some suggestions for board software that we haven’t looked at before.

Alternatively, would it be better to simply create a new board for the never-ending science vs creationism smackdown? The creation (or should I say evolution:-)) of such a board would immediately free up this board as any postings on the topic could automatically be deemed inappropriate for this board. Et voila!

Thanks again!
