Interesting info on the dyeing and windrifted lichens. Thanks for sharing. Some of the little beggars are edible, if not particularly tasty they will sustain life in a pinch. Learning which ones are edible ought to be part of every person's survival curriculum.

I'm a confirmed carnivore, myself. If it doesn't move around on its own, it's probably not worth eating! :-)
