Ah. Thanks for the info. Never had much time to play with cacti, though I like canned nopalitos, and have made some pretty prickly pear jelly.
I have to wonder how the Saguaro feels about having a hole cut in it and having its guts scooped out. I guess you kinda have to be there. :-)
I'd heard that barrel cacti were rather juicy and preferrable to dehydration, but have no personal experience to draw on.
So I guess I have Kate to thank for the fruitiness of my wild cactus chase. Not a problem. I learned something, and that made the day go better. It was shot anyway, considering it had a doctor visit in it. :-)
