galaxies collide...

hmm...

the cosmos is expanding...but galaxies collide...but everything is moving outward...but the universe has no center...but...???

yeah...okeydokey

if galaxies really only existed on the "surface of a sphere" and all were moving away from each other (a la expansion), there would be no collisions...and we would be living in "flatland" :-)
