Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but except for the color and lack of plants, that surface doesn't look any different than a stretch of dry Northern Arizona desert.
Mars has ice and so presumably water and possibly fine mist on occasion, but that photo doesn't look like anything wet.

Think about this though: When the second rover lands, imagine how cool it would be to see a vast expanse of Mars desert, and a few discernable, and definitely alien, scrub plants growing there!
