Many writers are rather solitary individuals. Mark Twain spent many of his most productive years mooching off of relatives and writing several hours a day in a little gazebo on his wife's family's estate. Many of his works are still salient today.

I don't have rich relatives, and the gazebo would have to have electricity and mod cons. I guess there's no hope for me. *grins)
