The accepted view in astrophysics is that depending on the mass of the Universe, or more precisely, depending on the mass density of the universe, for a homogeneously and isotropic universe (which our present universe seems to be),there can be only two outcomes:
a)the Big Chill: if the density is larger than a certain value, the expansoin of the universe will continue ad infinitum, until the temperature of the universe so to speak will reack 0 Kelvin
b)The Big Crunch: if the density is smaller than the above certain value, the expansion will sto at a certain moment, and will reverse, the universe contracting back to the singularity that yielded the Big Bang.
