Think for yourself and all shall be clear.
It's easy if you try.
Now unless one wishes to take a purely nihilist perspective, surely it is sensible to take a compassionate approach to all sentient creatures, by which I mean any with some sort of awareness rather than actual conciousness per se.
I could go on but I suspect no-one would listen.
