One can't do ethics with animals. They do not experience suffering like humans can do. You only think that they suffer because you feel guilty when you see one hurt. You are such projecting. It doesn't mean the animal feels the same, or for a matter "feels" at all.Don't fall for the enviromentalists or vegans' trap.
Ethics can only be done by free individuals, through reason and not guilt. Compassion is there just to remove a feeling of guilt. When one feels guilty; wethever imposed by society e.g. charities or one's own actions, one is not free and therefore cannot mak e an ethical choice.
