Whether its ethical or not will largley depend upon your religious views, and how badly a loving couple have the need to replace their (genetic)
son or daughter.
The need to reproduce is one of the strongest of human attributes, and causes considerable mental strain where this is denied, (in a viable
normal society) I might add, as an afterthought?
