There was a link to a study on newborn infants on that one link. I followed it. They did a study on newborns, still in the hospital, using a tap on the forehead while the infant was asleep. Not a visual response, true, but still the literal meaning of a blink reflex.
I didn't throw things at my kid when he was little; but it wouldn't have been too representative since he was about six weeks premature. You rased an interesting subject; I'll have to "keep my eyes open" from now on!
