I agree with your "no press" remark.
When I was stating the bit about VS.NET, I was thinking along the lines of cross-platform stuff, capable of running on everything, and ASP .NET code can only run on Windows IIS, or, Apache with Mono (mono isn't fully functional yet).
C# is, IMHO, a Microsoft-proprietary language that doesn't run on Linux OR OS X OR anything else, for that matter.
