A two-year trip to Mars will fry the ass-tronauts with radiation - assuming they don't degenerate into mush for lack of gravitational stress on their muscles, bones, and vasculature. Six months in low Earth orbit - inside the radiation-diverting planetary magnetosphere - still gives cosmonauts and ass-tronauts radiation cataracts. Nobody is going to Mars unless somebody invents new physics to get them there in reasonably real time.
If you lock a bunch of guys in a small capsule for two years you had better be sending homosexuals. If you do it with a bunch of guys and gals, the Bible Belt will bust its buckle. If you send all girls, you might as well kill them at launch and save the protracted grief.
