Re: This is the seed that will spawn Big Brother (Kelly)

As the resident geek would say, "If you'd use Linux, you wouldn't have to worry about the problem". There wouldn't be a problem. Windows is buggy and made to be virused. Linux isn't.

Some of us see the whole fiasco as the government's way of shoring up big business by throwing its support, not to the swiftest or the wisest, but to the contender with the ability to produce the most campaign funds and deliver the most votes. Standard Oil, Union Pacific, certain airlines, Rockefeller, Florida....

In the end, the biggest business that can convince the US government that its interests and the government's interests fit hand in glove is going to get subsidized, and all others will either roll over to get their bellies scratched too or find their way to the dungheap.

All this whole effort is doing is enabling one software company to survive what would be a death due to natural causes because it contains the seeds of its own destruction.

If you want to build a monolithic control system for your grandkids to play god with, you start by putting your support behind systems that require constant shoring up and monitoring like micro$oft. If you want to obviate the necessity for all this anal control crap, you back the system that doesn't need someone constantly watching it and sending out the alarm on a daily basis. Why do Linux users not care about virus warnings? Linux has had to my knowledge one event that qualified as a "Virus warning". In 24 hours or so the fix was produced and available all around the globe for free. Microsoft is faulty in construction and flawed to the core; it's got so many places a virus could attack it there's a whole web site at the gates of Gates dedicated to nothing but providing people with fixes (and do we all know how many meanings that word has?) for their dysfunctional product.

I'll likely be lynched for saying what I've said, but somebody needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
