Ah. This link makes it a littel clearer. The signs with the religious reference were put up 30 years ago. Just recently, because of an ACLU suit, they were taken down, but then the Park Service put them back up because the case has been refered to the justice department.

I can't find any reference to "new" signs being put up at the Grand Canyon or any other national park.
