Do you know anyone who still knows how to do long division? That's fifth grade math around here, and lots of people have become totally anaesthetized by then and sleep their way through the rest of public schooling.
And if they do manage to absorb anything remotely resembling learning, that's what the big ethanol-laden postgraduation parties are for: to remove any brain cells with any sort of learning unrelated to flipping burgers at a fast-food hop. It keep the customers satisfied.
