A common misconception. You're mistaking the right for the religious right, not the same thing at all. More and more modern conservatives think of themselves as Southpark Republicans.

Ah, yes, the infamous treaty with the Barbary Pirates. Not our finest hour. The U.S. was forced to sign because we were a minor power then with no real navy to speak of, so of course the treaty is filled with niceties , like how we are no threat to Islam and meant no offense to Allah, etc.
All very interesting, but it begs the question: What the hell does this have to do with the Grand Canyon?
