It was in a different solar system, and the sciece was weak. Said super-Jovian planet hard in by its star would suffer severe orbital degradation from air resistance (the star's outgassing), magnetic field entanglement, and transfer of orbital energy to provide the heating. It would spiral in and buy the farm.
