I am sure Uncle Al is correct.
The "puddles" are almost certainly where the low pressure filled balloons last rested....before being pulled in. The 'balloon retraction lines' shown are imprinted into the very fine dust. The deflated balloon shown in bottom of the pictures.
Lets hope it dos'nt blow up another Mars storm before 'Opportunity' gets to where NASA wants it.
Dust that fine could cause mechanical problems, and cut down on Solar cell output.
