agrees with the darker side of life - it is a competition for resources. If we continue to broadcast our presence and there are technologically advanced species out there, would they not come to this solar system much like the Spanish did in Mexico, to loot the valuables and enslave the natives (err, conversion is the polite word).

I am not sure how we can mask em signals without setting up a string of canceling broadcast out on the fringes of the solar system, something that will not be attempted without that first, dangerous contact.
