Reminds me very much of a statement by a Shell Oil exec in National Geographic a few years back.

"The stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones."

We didn't run out of willfully ignorant people either. They'd rather pontificate than spend 4+ years on a university campus learning something other than how to drink beer and chase skirts.
