Current work has already broken the break-even barrier. Now we are only talking about commercial feasability.

Some of us didn't give up when the Vanguard rocket didn't make it to the moon. We kept improving the technology until we had the Saturn V. You apparently want to look at what we have today and paint the entire future with the same brush.
